Review:

This story was a story of every tom boy ever (who just happen to take it a little longer to find love) or the right person.  Me being the tom boy type when I was younger I so related to Bailey!! She was funny and I could really see what a boy would have a hard time getting past the defenses. The story made me quite literally laugh out loud and was a really good book. Can’t wait to see what happens next for Bailey and her group of friends.

Description:

When your luck runs out, do you run away—or do you stay and fight?

Bailey:
Let’s get one thing straight. I am not your typical girl. Sure I’ve got all the parts, but I’ve been a stubborn, irreverent tomboy since the womb, as my Irish father would proudly attest. Despite my Irish blood, I’ve had a bit of bad luck here and there—I recently trusted the wrong guy and got derailed in my professional pursuits. But I’ve bounced back. With my shields firmly in place, I thought nothing, or no one, could touch me again. Until he did. And he just might make this tomboy do the girliest thing in the world—fall head over heels in love. Of all the damn luck…

Jake:
I’m a pretty lucky guy. I have a phenomenal family, a career I love, and I’m building a brand-new life back in my hometown. And, not to be a jerk about it, but I do more than all right with the ladies. Everything’s been going according to plan—like I said, I’m a lucky guy.

That was, until my luck ran out.

Until I met the girl I call “Irish.”

Irony can go kiss my a$$.

Review:

At first, I liked this book, but then as I read more, I started to not like it. The main female character at first sounds like most of us. She’s not a size 0 model, but a curvy woman. Well. Woman would be a little of an understatement. As the story progresses, she goes from being likable to a full on “cry baby”. I’m not thrilled how the story descended into a “poor me, I don’t have the courage to like myself” story. Honestly, once this started (around chapter 5 or 6), I couldn’t bring myself to keep reading.

Description:

Finding true love is more complicated than Katherine expected. Trying to get a guy in bed with her is even harder. Faced with beginning her twenty-sixth year of life insecure and living in the land of Hollywood where men and women either ignore or insult her curvy existence, Katherine decides to make dating her bitch.

She’s not changing her curvy body. She won’t put down the dessert. And she isn’t going to apologize for any of it.

But decisions don’t always go according to plan.

When a flirty and rugged New Yorker asks for her phone number, Katherine freezes. She’s ready to give up before heartbreak happens. That is, until she meets the polyamorous, fairy-godmother-wanna-be, Hunter. The self proclaimed Queen of Pleasure coaches Katherine on badass dating etiquette. Hunter’s first rule? Don’t fall in love. The second rule? Perfection doesn’t exist.

A painstakingly honest tale of the difficulties that come along with learning how to love yourself in a world that expects the opposite, Sugar & Other Luxuries is a sometimes steamy, sometimes funny story about refusing to play it safe and embracing the thrill of the game of love.

This is a fun, quick read. It is funny and sexy. It is also, a real and honest look at honesty and having morals when it comes to relationships with others and being true to yourself. The characters are fully developed and fresh. The story is interesting and  refreshing. I loved that someone has actually written about being honest even if it may not benefit you in any way other than keeping true to yourself. I really enjoyed this book and will absolutely look for more books by Madelle Morgan. Absolutely Recommended

Review:

Boy was this book good!!! Izzy Connors is the legal guardian of Nick. Nick’s mother, Sabrina Reems, was declared unfit when Nick was a baby. Sabrina returns into Izzy & Nick’s life, just as Izzy is seeking to adopt him. With 30 days to go until the next petition date, Izzy is overwhelmed with life and work. She’s an award winning photographer with a potential huge showing that will change her life. Nick is a star tennis player, who meets up with Jason Cartwright, a tennis pro trying to rehabilitate a potential career ending injury. Izzy is also scheduled to do an exclusive photography session with Jason, marking his return to his sport. Izzy and Jason have a past together, that also includes Sabrina. Nick’s paternity is revealed and Izzy is then up against both Sabrina and Jason in the fight for Nick’s custody.

The twists and turns in this book had my head reeling. You find yourself rooting for Izzy, cursing Sabrina, and wanting to kill Izzy’s agent, Simon. Jason is at times a bit of a pain in the rear and you want to literally kick some sense into him.

Ms. Malone is a wonderful story teller and I look forward to more of her books.

Review:

This was a fun and fast paced read. I enjoyed the premise of the older woman and younger man. There were a few times I wanted to push Jill and say “Go for it already!” But the author kept the faith and the pace and in the end it was just right. If it had been rushed then the bigger picture would have been lost. I  do wish the author would have taken it a step further to include Daniel in the mix and see how the three interacted. But it was definitely a good read. The sex was hot and heavy but so were the emotions. Most definitely can RECOMMEND HIGHLY. And if the author decides to write a sequel then I will buy and read it, happily.

Spotlight: Dating an Alien Pop Star, by Kendra L. Saunders Reply

AlienPopstar

Available for Purchase on:

Description:

Daisy Kirkwood has only just escaped her small-town life and run away to New York City, the land of last-minute secret gigs at famous musical venues, when she’s kidnapped by aliens. Unfortunately, no one ever writes about how to handle alien abduction in those fancy NYC guidebooks.

Griffin and Dev are supermassively sexy aliens from a politically and environmentally troubled planet who arrive on Earth with very little knowledge about human ways other than what they learned from a wayward E! News signal. Their mission is to pretend to be the most influential people on the planet—English pop stars, of course!—and gain the help of a powerful secret society. Upon arriving, they abduct Daisy Kirkwood, a nerdy young woman who loves music but could seriously use a bit of help in the love-life department. Though Griffin and Daisy initially squabble, neither can deny the intergalactic sparks whenever they’re too close to each other. Together, they must face murderous aliens, cultural misunderstandings, bad backup musicians, and the dark side of fame and the media, all set against a tight deadline…

Part High Fidelity, part Bridget Jones’ Diary, part Doctor Who, Dating an Alien Pop Star is a sexy romantic comedy.

DatingAnAlienPopStarBlitzBanner

Excerpt:

Griffin raises a dark eyebrow. “Are you afraid of me?”

“I didn’t say I’m afraid!”

“But are you?”

“No!”

“Good.” He kicks off his shoes. “This will be a nice period of bonding for us, Wanda.”

“Why are you here?” I demand, sitting on the edge of the bed and crossing my arms over my chest. “You say you want to become the most powerful being on the planet with your music and all of that, but why?”

“It’s none of your business.”

“It’s my planet, so it is my business. You’re not planning to brainwash all of us, and then harvest our organs or something, are you? Keep our livers in jars in a spaceship somewhere? Burn the planet and then plant your weird medicinal drugs here?”

Griffin stalks closer to me with every word, until he’s standing directly in front of me, the glowing light in his eyes showing through the lenses. “And if I am, do you think you’re going to stop me?”

A shudder traces through me. I’m not sure if it’s because of his words or because he’s standing so close. “I’ll have to stop you,” I say in a very brave tone. Okay, actually, it’s not brave at all. More like a wheezy whisper. But Bjork or Kim Gordon wouldn’t just bow down to an alien invasion without at least attempting to protect their planet, and neither will I.

Before I can fully process what’s happening, Griffin’s pinned me down, holding my wrists against the bed under his hands. His body, though slight, feels substantial and warm against mine—simultaneously threatening and a bit of a turn on. “You don’t know me very well at all, do you, Wanda?” he whispers, and I want to correct him about my name, but I find it hard to say anything at all. “I would never come all the way to your planet just to enjoy the food and then destroy it. I’m not cruel!”

“I don’t know anything about you, other than your bad taste in clothes,” I say, but his weight pressed against my pelvis has my body pulsing and warm all over. Bad, bad, bad.

“Then look into me, why don’t you? You could see anything you wanted, if you’d just look. I’d let you.”

When I shake my head, he releases me, climbing right over top of me to take his place on the bed. I can feel the mattress shaking a bit, and I gather my wits enough to sit up and glance at him. He’s maneuvered his way out of the rest of his clothes, leaving only the underwear.

Thank God. Especially since my close proximity reveals he’s not doing too bad in that department. Even under a layer of fabric.

Review:
Though the premise of this book has been done many times, this lovey little story is unique in that the characters of James and Kate are dynamite together and having a history that is ten years old sets them up quickly without the “getting to know you” stage in a story. They are sweet, funny and charming, with a dash of angst thrown in…nothing like an ex who won’t let go.
I was completely engaged until the very end and look forward to reading more from this author, especially if she turns this book into a series.

Description:

Who needs a SWAT team to escape from their own wedding? Me.

My Momzilla turned us into hostages at our own ceremony, so Declan and I are getting married the good old-fashioned way, just like everybody else.

By calling in his private security team, stealing away before the ceremony by helicopter, connecting to his corporate jet and heading for Las Vegas.

The Boston wedding of the year is about to become a trashy Elvis drive-thru ceremony.

Until the best man spills the beans and Mom, Dad, my sisters, his brothers, my maid of honor, my friend Josh, and even my cat, Chuckles, all come along for the ride.

I can’t win, can I?

Oh. Yeah. I already did.

Love conquers all.

Even my crazy family.

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Wife is the 8th book in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Shopping for a Billionaire series. After Declan convinces Shannon to escape from their own wedding minutes before the ceremony begins, the madcap adventures are just getting started. When the mother of the bride pries their location out of the tortured best man, the whole crazy crew follows the bride and groom to Las Vegas in this romantic comedy from Julia Kent.

Excerpt:

We are at a private airport I’ve never seen before. The sky is that glorious shade of blue that seems to deepen as you look up, with a smattering of clouds that draw the eye to them. It’s a perfect, idyllic July day in Massachusetts.

A great day for an outdoor wedding.

Declan and the helicopter pilot, whose name I never caught, exchange a few words in Russian before I rib my soon-to-be husband and whisper, “Would you please speak in English?”

“Why?”

Why?

He just stares at me with that intimidatingly blank face.

“That doesn’t work, you know,” I tell him with a pointed sneer. Or, at least, I try to sneer. I’m not so good at the sneering thing. That’s more Jessica Coffin’s area of expertise.

He doesn’t twitch a muscle. For whatever reason, he doesn’t want me to know what he and the pilot are talking about. Fine. Fine!

But this alpha-male dominant crap – you know, the stuff I fell in love with him for – is getting on my nerves.

“Declan, please,” I concede.

No change.

The exasperated hiss that comes out of me makes my body flush with fury. “It’s our wedding day. I am supposed to be kissing you at the altar right now while the minister pronounces us husband and wife. Instead, I listened to you and went along with this crazy scheme to run off to Las Vegas and leave everyone – everyone! — behind.”

Side note: I know that’s not true. The decision to ditch my mother was mutual. But right now, I have zero leverage, and he’s giving me that granite look like he’s an Easter Island statue, so I have to find some kind of vulnerability in him.

I’m saving sex for the nuclear option.
